As many of you will know the BMFA has traditionally rounded off the year with a formal dinner at which we present our annual awards to those members who have been nominated by their peers for making an outstanding contribution to the model flying community. Recipients range from dedicated club members who have given a lifetime of service to those who have achieved international acclaim, along with a separate category of nominees from the Achievement Scheme.

Also on display is the glittering array of National and Area competition trophies, some dating back almost a century, that are presented to those contest winners who are able to attend.

There will be fewer than usual this year due to the restricted competition programme in some disciplines but most National Championship classes will have been flown.

We also have a significant batch of Awards to present, along with some from last year, who all deserve our support on the night.

However, the dinner is not just for award and trophy winners and their families: it is an opportunity for all to celebrate the year and enjoy a convivial evening with fellow model fliers.

The dinner usually takes place on the same day as the Annual General Meeting but the COVID-19 pandemic measures in place last year meant that the AGM could only be held on-line, and our awards were acknowledged with a virtual ceremony a few weeks later.
I am pleased to say that, unless the COVID situation deteriorates and prevents us from meeting indoors, we are intending to hold both the AGM and Awards Dinner again this year at the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel on 20 th November.

The hotel has held its prices at the rates we had agreed last year for both a 4- course dinner and accommodation, both of which provide excellent value. Further details will follow shortly but as the date is rapidly approaching I wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know that plans are progressing and to put the date in your diaries.

Sadly there will be no Free Flight Forum this year on the Sunday but, hopefully, this will return for our Centenary next year.
